Wedding Stationary Suite
Illustrated in Procreate with text composed in Photoshop, I created a personalized stationary suite for Edem and Luke that included invitations, ceremony programs, and thank you notes. The couple provided a list of symbols that were meaningful in their relationship (duck, rabbit, blue hearts, avocados, University of Virginia) which I incorporated throughout their stationary suite. The columns in the invitation are stylized to mirror the rotunda columns at the University of Virginia. I used blue hearts to create a flower patterned across the pieces. Rather than illustrate literal avocados, I utilized the more elegant leaves of an avocado tree to make up the greenery.
World Postcard Day 2023
Postcrossing is an organization that pairs up penpals from all over the world to send and receive postcards. Each year a design is selected to cover a postcard in celebration of World Postcard Day. I illustrated a submission in Procreate for the 2023 contest theme "Postal Hugs."
The illustration is made up of postal stamps that capture the connection and warmth felt as a result of receiving a friendly piece of mail. I meditated on the quote from an avid postcard sender that inspired the theme, "a postcard is a hug sent through the mail," and considered other applicable metaphors: it's the right warmth of the sun on your face; being offered a comforting cup of tea; the simple joy of slipping into a cozy bed.
